Bernardo Silva: Raheem Sterling difende il compagno di squadra del Manchester City dopo il Tweet

Raheem Sterling ha difeso il suo compagno di squadra del Manchester City Bernardo Silva dopo le accuse di razzismo a seguito di un tweet trasmesso dal Portogallo al compagno di squadra Benjamin Mendy.

Silva ha pubblicato un'immagine sui social media in cui Mendy è stato paragonato a un personaggio in un pacchetto di Conguitos - un dolce disponibile in Spagna e Portogallo.

Il tweet ha attirato critiche dal gruppo antirazzista Kick It Out.

"Non credo che ci sia alcun razzismo in esso", ha detto Sterling.

"È una situazione tra due amici, Bernardo e Mendy, come tutti sanno. Riesco a vedere esattamente il punto in cui alcune persone possono esserne sensibili, ma in quella situazione Bernardo fa uno scherzo al suo amico.

"Non si riferisce al suo colore della pelle, non si riferisce alle sue labbra. In entrambe le foto hanno entrambe delle teste piccole, sai. La cosa più importante per me è che non si riferiva a un colore."

La Federcalcio ha contattato City per le sue osservazioni mentre Silva ha scritto all'organo di governo per dire che si rammarica del fatto che il suo post sui social media possa aver causato intenzionalmente offese.

Mendy ha anche scritto a sostegno di Bernardo, dicendo che non si è offeso.

Sterling, che è un impegnato attivista contro il razzismo, ha dichiarato che Silva ha lottato questa settimana a causa dell'attenzione che il tweet ha attirato.

Parlando con Sky Sports dopo che i campioni della Premier League hanno vinto 3-1 sabato all'Everton, Sterling ha aggiunto: "Sento davvero triste vedere qualcuno come Bernardo, per tutta la settimana, essere un po 'depresso perché non è così incline.
